I’ve had Maybelline Superstay 14 Hour in Always Plum for a little while and I like that pinkish-purple shade, with just enough purple for me to get over the pinkness of it (pink-toned shades being usually the fastest way to turn me off a lip colour).
I hadn’t really tested the 14-hour claim though, I think I’m pretty much incapable of holding off reapplying my lipstick every couple of hours anyway. Looking at the Maybelline stand recently, after being impressed with my new purchases of Naked Brown and Divine Wine, I saw this pretty nude shade in the 14 hour line, Lasting Chestnut.
I still haven’t tested it for 14 hours, so I can’t say what it would look like after that length of time. It does last very well though, a good few hours, and when I reapplied it, I didn’t really need to, it was just out of habit. It goes on smoothly and doesn’t dry completely. Without being actually sticky, it does have a slightly tacky finish, that certainly makes it feel like it’s going to stick around. It’s not drying, but because of the tackiness, I am more aware of it than other lipsticks.
I like the chestnut brown shade though, it’s just that bit darker and warmer than other beige-y nude shades, which look far too pale on me for my liking. I would buy more of this line as I like the idea of a long lasting, non-budging kind of lippie, but none of the other shades are really my thing – too pink and too bright really. But this is a good everyday shade, or one to use on a night out, paired with dramatic eyes.
